Q.1. Suppose you are Munni, the landlord comes to your house askes you to pay to rent. What will you do then ?

Ans. Then, if I would have money to pay him back. I would certainly pay him the money then and there . If but, I haven’t the money to pay him. I would request him to give me some time to pay back the money.

 

Q.2. Animals also possess the ability to understand human feeling. Elaborate this statement keeping in view the role of Jabra in the story.

Ans. We see in the following story that Jabra understand the fellings of his master Halku all the time. When Halku felt too much cold and wanted the dog to bring him close to his body, in his lap , Jabra silently walked a close to him. Another incident of trying to drive away the pack of nilgai from the field, amidst in the chilling cold, for the sake of his master prove the statement more clearly as Jabra finally kisses his death while serving for his master.

 

Q.3. Halku didn’t go to the field even when he knew that animals were devastating the crops. Had you been there what would you have done ?

Ans. If I were in the place of Halku , I would have driven away all the animals from my field, to save my crops . After all, for this I had been there in the chilling night to face the cold to save my crop . I would have fight against the odds, to drive away the animals from the field, in the cold, with all my wit and courage.

 

Q.4. How many characters are there in the story ? Whom do you like most ? Give reasons for your choice ?

Ans. Halku, his wife Munni and his dog Jabra are the characters in the story . Of them, I like the dog Jabra most who died in the cold of the night, serving for the sake of his master.

 

Q.5. Give the main idea of the story ?

Ans. The story mainly gives a focus of the hard and crushed life of the tenant or the peasants or farmers of the Indian villages. Their life are miserable. They have to live beyond the diginfy of mankind. The tenants are forced to feel that even the labourers life are better to them and ultimately they have to take decision to leave the work of farming and to run away to some town to work as a labourer. This scene deteriorate the farming scene of our country. Which is a translation of his famous Hindi story — ‘ Poss ki Raat ‘.
